FAQ
Answers to common questions about our practice and dental care.
How often should I visit the dentist?
The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends visiting a dentist at least twice a year for checkups and cleanings. We concur with this recommendation.
What happens during a dental emergency?
Contact our office immediately upon recognizing an emergency. During business hours, we will accommodate urgent cases. Outside regular hours, an emergency contact number is available through the office.
How do I choose the right toothbrush?
Adults should choose small-to-medium brushes with soft-to-medium bristles, ensuring the head reaches all mouth areas, particularly the back. Children need smaller brushes with soft bristles. Those with sensitive teeth benefit from gentle, soft-bristled options.
How often should I replace my toothbrush?
The American Dental Association recommends that you replace your brush every 3 to 4 months as bristles wear with use. Children's brushes typically require more frequent replacement.
Are electric toothbrushes better than manual ones?
Both types offer similar effectiveness. Powered brushes may appeal more to children and benefit those with manual dexterity challenges.
Should I brush or floss first?
Either sequence works if performed thoroughly. Flossing before brushing enables the fluoride in your toothpaste to better reach the areas between the teeth.
How do I choose the right toothpaste?
Choose fluoride-containing options bearing the ADA Seal of Acceptance, which means it has been assessed for safety and effectiveness. Fluoride strengthens tooth structure and prevents decay.
What payment options are available?
We accept major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover), cash, and checks. We also offer CareCredit financing and process most dental insurance plans.
